DOWN: The death of Agnes Emma Down occurred on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born May 31, 1922 at High Bluff, Manitoba, Agnes attended school at Carroll, Manitoba where she graduated grade 12 and went on to graduate from Wheat City Business College in Brandon. She worked for New York Life Insurance Co. in Toronto for four and a half years and De Havilland Aircraft Co., and then returned to Rounthwaite, Manitoba with her husband Jim where they owned and operated the general store for thirteen years before moving to Brandon in 1957. Agnes and Jim moved to Calgary in 1987, and Mom returned to Brandon after Dads death in 1997. Mom was secretary manager of Brandon Construction Association for 14 years, sold nutrimetics for 42 years and 5th Avenue Jewelery for 15 years. She was a member of Knox United Church and a lifetime member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge #6, for over 30 years. Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991 in Brandon. She enjoyed music, dancing, bridge and crafts. Family was very important and a large part in Moms life. She always showed her love of children, her own and relatives children, as well as nieces and nephews. Agnes is survived by her sons Dana of Canmore, Alberta, Clark (Betty) of Rosetown, Saskatchewan; granddaughters Allison and Kelly; great granddaughters Ellise, Katlyn, Ashleigh in Carseland and Strathmore, Alberta and sister Connie Mislowski of Regina, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her son James Gregory Thomas Down in 1968; husband Albert James Down in 1997; parents Thomas (Bella) Pringle; sister Dell (Bill) Campbell; twin sisters Margaret (Arthur) Moore and Mary (Wilbert) Webster; brothers Stuart Pringle, Harold (Isabel) Pringle and sister Mildred (Stuart) Lind. No funeral service will be held at Moms request. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Agnes may be made to the Arthritis Society, Suite 105 386 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 3R6.
