BENNETT: It is with deep sadness that the family of Joyce Bennett announces her passing at the Minnedosa District Hospital at the age of 85 years. Joyce Elizabeth Reeves was born 29 April 1927 in Winnipeg MB, the youngest of five children born to the late Frank and Lily (Handley) Reeves. She grew up in the Two Creeks district where she received her early education. She was a member of the 1950 A graduating class from the Brandon General Hospital School of Nursing. It was while nursing in Virden that she met her future husband Duke Haynes. They had one daughter before Dukes death. In 1962 Joyce married Blair (Scotty) Bennett and three children were born to this union. They made their home in Virden before moving to Erickson in 1978. Mom was a very caring person and lived her life unconditionally. She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours weeding in the sunshine but above all else, her life was devoted to her family. She was also a devoted pet parent, loving many lucky cats and dogs. She was awarded a lifetime membership in The Royal Canadian Legion in April 2002 and enjoyed volunteering with various groups over the years including the Retreads, the Hospital Auxiliary and various church groups. Joyce is survived by her children: Linda (Gary) Holdaway, Patti (Neil) Humphrey, Karen (Ed) Hauff and Cam (Anne) Bennett; her grandchildren Karl (Ashley) Holdaway, Jennifer, Tiffany, Dustin and Matthew Wruth, Claire Humphrey, Erin and Sean Bennett and 2 great grandchildren Konnor McLeod and Emma Holdaway as well as her sister-in-law Viney Reeves and numerous nieces and nephews.
