HARPER: It is with great sadness that we announce that Joyce Florine Harper (nee McCaffrey), age 88 years, passed away peacefully in the Assiniboine Centre on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the company of family members. She is survived by her husband Gerald of 66 years; her six children: Hugh (Janet) Harper, Dawn (Don) Curtis, Ron (Jan) Harper, Dale (Anne) Harper, Joy (Marty) Gove and Michele (Kelly) Pettinger as well as twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her sister, Beryl. Mom was born in Miami, Manitoba on March 30, 1924 and in her early years developed her flair for baking while working in her fathers bakery. Upon completion of high school, she began her career as a bank teller which was short lived once she met her future husband, Gerald Harper. They married and started a family in McCreary, Manitoba. Moms greatest love was her family. She will be long remembered for the many family gatherings, concerts, celebrations and holidays which everyone cherished. Mom was always up for a game of cards, scrabble or just relaxing doing puzzles during these gatherings. She enjoyed many years at Clear Lake especially in the old camp ground cooking on the old wood stove as well their Motley Crew friends from Deer Road and area. More recently, she loved her twenty plus winters in Mesa, Arizona, where she loved to dance and could display her many skills at the bridge table or at any card game. Despite an acute fear of water, Mom loved to go fishing with friends and family. A service to celebrate Joyces life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Valley Community Church, 1620 Braecrest Drive. Pastor Wayne Boldt will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may be made atwww.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 204-727-0330.
