McKAY: Clark William McKay Mato Zi (Yellow Bear) was born on August 12, 1966 in Brandon, MB to Aaron and Sandra McKay. Mato Zi began his spiritual journey on February 20, 2013 at Brandon Regional Health Centre. He leaves to mourn his sons, Jared, Talon, and Tristan; parents Aaron and Sandra; brother Dale (Natalie); hunka brother Jon Thunderbirdsky; granddaughter Jaelle; Unkan Stewart Wasteste, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. He also leaves his special friend and companion Marcy Chief. Mato Zi was predeceased by his grandparents Eric and Rachel McKay, Unkan John Wasicuna and his Kunshi Rosalie Bone-Wasteste. Mato Zi was a cowboy, who enjoyed and participated in steer wrestling, roping, and horseback riding. He participated in many unity rides throughout the years with family and fellow cowboys. He had a passion for elk hunting and was a great provider to the Oyate, by always sharing a successful hunt with the people. Mato Zi played hockey with the Sioux Valley Dakotas Senior Team, and won many championships for his community. He also enjoyed playing golf with his family and Kodas. He was an excellent cook and loved to barbecue, loved to play Texas Holdem Poker. Mato Zi made numerous friends throughout his many travels and journey in life. He had a great enjoyment in playing traditional Dakota Moccasin games. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Brandon Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion. Also to the Dakota Oyate for their prayers and condolences. Evening service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th St., Monday, February 25, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with Traditional Services to be held at the Sioux Valley Veterans Hall on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 commencing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Sioux Valley Anglican Cemetery.
