HAIGH: Irene Haigh, beloved wife of John Haigh passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Place on Sunday February 24, 2013 with John at her side. She was 84 years old. Irene was born in Rochdale, England on September 11, 1928. After her schooling, Irene worked in a woollen mill. In 1949, at the age of 21, she immigrated to Canada and married John. They farmed in the Pleasant Valley District just outside of Grandview, Manitoba until 1973. Irene and John then moved to Dauphin and later to Brandon where Irene was employed in the Hotel industry until her retirement. She was an avid reader and loved to knit. Irene and John took many trips back to England as well as various places in Canada and the US. Irene is survived by her husband John; daughter Dorothy (Rene); sons Ralph (Cathy) and Glen (Anita) as well as grandsons, Grant and Scott. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Edna and Lena, and one brother, Ernest. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at Rosewood Memorial Gardens at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
