ADAMS: David “Chips” Charles Adams was born on May 21, 1934 in Brandon, Manitoba. He was the eldest son of Rose (Stritz) and Charlie Adams. David passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on April 3, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nora (Slevin); their three sons, David (Kathy), Mark (Sandi), Michael (Cindy); grandchildren Bradley (Val), Courtney, Troy and Trent Adams, Kevin and Michael (Kyleen) Mallin; brother Larry (Randy); numerous brothers- in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Rose and Charlie Adams and his favorite aunt, Lillian Adams. Chips was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba where his schooling and sporting activities started. He was actively involved in hockey and baseball in his early years, playing with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Brandon Cloverleafs. Both of these teams were a source of pride in his later years because many of the long standing relationships with teammates continued. In 1959 he and Nora relocated to Winnipeg to start a new chapter in their life together. He established his career in the accounting profession which he continued up to his final weeks. Chips’ love of sport never waned. He was an avid fan of all three boys’ endeavors which carried through to his grandchildren both in sports and everyday life. Chipper was an awesome dad and grandpa! Thank you to all of our family friends for the numerous calls and visits during his final days. Also, thank you to all the doctors and nurses who were instrumental for his care and comfort. A celebration of Chips’ life will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Southwood Golf and Country Club (new location), 80 Rue de Monastere, St. Norbert, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 0R3.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I’ve always wondered, whatever happened to the rest of Rose Rose’s family. I used to be very close with Rose and Mr. Lawson on 16th St. many years ago. I think Larry may know who I am. I’m the one with all the kids thankfully they’re all grown up now and still bugging the hell out of me so sorry to hear about your loss after all these years to find out that you have lost your partner, father grandfather, etc. I have visited your mother‘s grave often in Brandon and put flowers there as you know I’m getting older. I haven’t been there for quite a while so anyways she’s in a better place than all of us. I remember all the pierogies made and brought to you on the bus on the weekend. She came in to visit so many things I can remember about her. God rest your soul so much for that. Take care and God bless. - Posted by: Hazel Peech (Friend of the family Rose Adams) on: Feb 22, 2025
