FOLLIS: The family would like to announce the passing of Glen F. Follis at the age of 74, just three days short of his 75th birthday. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife Barbara; daughters Tammie (Greg) Dueck; Glenda (Richard) Marsh; son Gary; brother Brian (Shirley) and other extended family members. Glen was predeceased by his parents John and Rose Follis, siblings Melvyn, Albert, Aileen, Viola, and Bruce. He was born and raised in the Wood Bay District. Glen, known as “Penny” by his Wood Bay friends, left school at an early age to begin a lifetime of farming. Glen married Barbara in 1974 and together they raised three children on the farm. He was dedicated to the land and raising his cattle. He was always an early riser and a very hard worker. Glen served as a councilor for the RM of Louise, Ward 4 for thirteen years. He was also a leader of the Pilot Mound 4-H Beef Club for several years. Throughout his life, Glen enjoyed many activities including curling, hunting, playing cards, watching sports, going to the casino, and harness races. He proudly supported his children’s activities and accomplishments. Glen appeared to have a tough exterior, but on the inside had a soft spot for animals, and his family and friends. He loved to tease and it was a sure sign of his friendship. In keeping with Glen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Lorne Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, c/o Lorne Memorial Health Foundation, Box 40, Swan Lake MB, ROG 2SO.
