BARRETT: Wilbur Charles (Bud). It is with sadness that we announce his passing, peacefully in his sleep on May 7, 2013 at the Hamiota District Health Centre. Dad was born in Lenore, Manitoba on December 28, 1920. He grew up in the Rapid City area. During the war Dad served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot, something he was very proud of throughout his life. While in England he met and married Joan Wilson. At the end of the war Dad returned to Canada, followed by Mum and 3 month old Aston. They made their home in Miniota, where Dad worked with his brother Bill at the General Store, and later Forsyths Grocery until he began work at the Post Office. He transferred to Rivers where he was Post Master for many years - a total of 31 years. Dad loved sports of all kinds and right up to his passing was interested to know both the hockey playoff and baseball stats. Dad loved curling and especially enjoyed the Postal Curling where he met up with all his friends traveling all over the country. He spent much time traveling both in Canada and the United States. He also loved to fish and golf. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Eleanor, step-mother and lifetime friend Lorraine, his loving wife Joan, brothers Wilf and Bill (Evelyn), sisters Elsie (Len Bryant), Mabel (Jack Stewart), Evelyn (Gordon Finley), Ethel (Warren Robinson) and Muriel (Reg Bryant). He will be missed by son Aston (Gill), granddaughters, Jennifer (Lloyd), Carla (Rod), great-grandchildren, Nylah and Callie. He will also be missed by Chris (Shawna), Danna, Alexis, Larz, Rob, Trinity, Vincent, Stevie and Delilah, and numerous nieces and nephews. We thank everyone who has helped Dad out and made it possible to stay at his own home until recently, especially, Marlene, Jaime, Lisa and Tamara. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Brandon R.H.C. and Hamiota Hospital for their wonderful care of Dad during his recent stays. We celebrated Dads life at a lovely service on May 13th at Miniota Anglican Church. Many thanks to all who attended from near and far. Those who wish, may make a donation to a charity of their choice in memory of Bud.
