STEELE: Marie Lillian Steele (nee Arran). It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of a loving wife, mother & grandmother (great), Marie Lillian Steele (nee Arran), of Glenboro MB. in the Glenboro Health Centre on Saturday May 18, 2013 at the age of 79 years following a brief and courageous battle with cancer, her spirit and sense of humor staying with her till the end. Born on May 3, 1934 in Treesbank MB, Marie was the daughter of the late (Jack) Abraham Asquith & Mary Esther (Dolly) Arran. She married George Donald Steele on July 26, 1958 and resided on the Steele home farm southwest of Glenboro until her passing. Together they ran a mixed farming operation of beef & grain and raised their 2 children. Up to 1977 she worked outside the family farm as an evening MTS operator until Glenboro finally went to dial. She was very active in her community with the Hawkins Hustlers, the Ag. Society, the United Church and other various volunteer committees. She will be remembered for the love of her family, her generous heart, her baking, her frankness & sense of humor. Left to cherish her memories, Marie leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Don, daughter Kim & son-in-law Rod Shewfelt of Winnipeg, son Jim & daughter -in-law Jackie of Glenboro, grandchildren Trish (Trevor) Kawka, Mathew (Tricia) Shewfelt, Trevor (Claudia) Steele, Jenny Steele; five great grandchildren Liam, Ivy, Nathan, Amy & Maxxine; five brothers & sisters, Bob (Dorothy) Arran of Binscarth, June (Herb) Nordman of Cypress River, Jack (Phyllis) Arran of Beausejour, Bill (Dianne) Arran of Winnipeg Dorothy (Keith) Vrooman of Killarney as well as numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Marie was predeceased by her parents (Jack) Abraham Asquith & Mary Esther (Dolly) Arran, sister Bea King, brother-in-law Clyde King & by sister-in-law Donna Arran. A Celebration of Maries life was held on Thursday May 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Glenboro Kinsmen Community Hall with Sharon Hamilton officiating. A Family interment took place at the Glenboro Cemetery.
