BROWNRIDGE: Marjorie Alfreda Brownridge (nee Gill), beloved wife of the late John Walter Brownridge, passed away at her residence, Hillcrest Place, on March 22, 2013 at the age of 78. Marj was born May 14, 1934 in Rapid City to Arthur and Bessie Gill. She was raised with 6 siblings on the family farm north of Rivers. She attended Cardale and Medina Schools. Marj married John Brownridge September 5, 1956 and they enjoyed 52 years together before John’s passing in November 2008. They lived most of their married life in the Linden Lanes area of Brandon, moving to Victoria Landing in 2007. As her health was declining, Marj moved to Hillcrest Place in April 2011. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff for all their care in the last few years. Marj was very involved in the development of her community, in particular the growth of Westridge Community Centre in the 1970s. Marj and John were members of St. Paul’s United Church, and became founding members of Trinity United Church. Marjorie worked in the office at Eatons prior to her marriage. She later worked part-time for Canadian Tire and finally full-time at the Brandon Clinic in the office until her retirement in 1994. Marjorie is survived by daughters: Janet (Robert) Davidson, Cheryl (Shawn) Tait, Debra (Greg) McLeod and Karen Brownridge; grandchildren: Mark, Adam, Elizabeth and Laura Davidson; Jordan and Courtney Tait and Brendan and Katie McLeod; sisters: Shirley Dupuis and Doreen Millard; brother Stan (Audrey) Gill; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Brownridge; parents, Arthur and Bessie Gill; siblings, Murray, Doug and Ruth Gill. The Service Celebrating Marjorie’s Life will be held at Trinity United Church, 1513 – 6th Street, Brandon on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Sanderson officiating. Interment will take place at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
