SHAND: It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Dorothy Alice (Lovatt) Shand on July 15, 2013 at the age of 85. Dorothy was born on March 23, 1928 in Souris, Manitoba. Her home for the past ten years has been at Fairview Home. She leaves to mourn: her daughter Wendy; son Ron, daughter-in-law Linda; grandchildren Darcy (Amy) and Alana; precious great grandchildren Christopher, Avery and Sam; sisters-in-law Pat and Doreen and brother-in-law Art. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1987; her siblings Ken, Morley, Roy, Aileen, Louise, Doreen; sister-in-law Eileen; brothers-in-law Jack and Harold. The family wishes to thank the staff on third floor at Fairview for the care and respect they gave her. They were always so involved with her talking about sports, politics and her grandchildren. Everyone knew when it was curling season or the Bombers were playing that Dorothy wouldn’t be missing any of it on TV. Such great conversations over the years. Thank You. A graveside service was held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 18, 2013. Colleen Gareau officiated. The family would like to thank Vern Schneider of Memories Chapel and Colleen Gareau for their compassion during this difficult time. If family and friends should wish donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation – Murray House Cancer Treatment Residence, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.Arrangements with Memories Chapel &Pre-Planning Centre, 204-727-0330.
