KOZAK: Helen Katherine Kozak (nee Czerkawski) passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the age eighty-nine in Fairview Home, Brandon, Manitoba with her family by her side. Helen was born on October 7, 1923 to Kathrine and Konstannty Czerkawski at Brandon, Manitoba. Raised at Pleasant Point, she married Philip Kozak on June 16, 1946 and the couple farmed, first at Brandon, then Fairfax, Manitoba before she supported Phil in his construction business in Brandon and area. Predeceased by all of her siblings: Jenny, Joseph, Emily, Julia, Stan and Walter. Helen is survived by her husband Phil, sons Ken (Trudy), Terry (Donna), Ron (Betty), her grandchildren Brent, Colin, Lawrence and Logan, sisters- in-law, Elsie (Stan) and Josie (Walter), and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and cousins, especially little Tia Czerkawski. As well as raising her family, working on the farm and driving school bus, Helen was a life long volunteer, from supporting her community events to being a member of Brandon Citizen Advocacy and finally on the improvement and planning team at Fairview Home. Helen will be long remembered and deeply missed. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 on Wednesday, July 24th at the Brandon Cemetery, followed by a gathering at Prairie Oasis Senior Centre, 241 - 8th Street, Brandon. Please, no flowers. Donations to a charity of your choice.
