BULL: Kenneth James suddenly passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the age of 71. Born to Ed and Hazel Bull of Strathclair, MB on April 6, 1942, Ken was one of seven boys in his family. He grew up and attended school in the Strathclair area. Ken married MaryLou Creber in 1962. They moved to Rapid City, MB in 1964, where they farmed and raised their family. Over the years, Ken managed the Peavey Mart (National) store in Brandon, worked for Allied Farm Equipment, Robinson Alamo, Trans Continental Bolt Company (TCB), Trans-Canada Pipelines and Elton Agri-Sales. Ken especially enjoyed working on the farm doing mechanical repairs and welding. He learned his mechanical skills working with his father at Bull’s Garage and he gained his love of farming working for the neighbours, the Hogg family. Known as both “Ken” and “Jim”, he loved music and could often be heard humming a tune. Ken also loved people, especially children, and was an “adopted” uncle and grandpa to many children over the years. He had several interests, including music, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping, Stock Car racing in Rapid City, the Old Iron Club of Strathclair and visiting with family, friends and loved ones.Ken is survived by son Rob (Val) of Killarney, MB and grandchildren, Rick, Lisa and Erin of Brandon, MB; daughter Laurel (Charlie) Clark and grandson Mike and great grandchildren Colin and Emily, all of Brandon, MB; daughter Lorna (Brian) Kacsmar and grandchildren Bailey and Justin of Esterhazy, SK. He also leaves to mourn his brothers Larry, Don (Marg) and Bob (Marg), sister-in-law Pearl and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, MaryLou, his parents and his brothers Earl, Lloyd and Howard. A private family graveside service was held at Rapid City Cemetery on Monday, August 12, 2013. Pastor George Isaak officiated. Pallbearers were Rob Bull, Rick Bull, Charlie Clark, Mike Clark, Brian Kacsmar and Justin Kacsmar. A ceremony to celebrate Ken's life followed at Memories Chapel in Brandon. Tributes to Ken and his family were given by Jim Hillis, Simon LaPlante and Mavis Bull. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
