FORBES: Jean Audrey Forbes passed away on August 26, 2013, following a brief fight with cancer. Jean was born on October 14, 1949 at Minnedosa, the first of two daughters for John and Marguerite Hood. She received the majority of her education in Dauphin and following high school took a secretarial course at Red River College in Winnipeg. Her working career took her through the Bank of Nova Scotia, the Provincial Government in Dauphin and Winnipeg, and the RCMP in Dauphin, Virden and Killarney. On November 9, 1974, Jean Married Phil Forbes and they started married life on the farm south of Dauphin. Jeff arrived in March, 1977 and in February 1978, Phil joined Farm credit Canada and they moved to Killarney. From there they were transferred to Brandon, Virden, Killarney and back to Dauphin in 1996. In summer months, Jean enjoyed weekends camping and then at the cottage at Ditch Lake. After Jeff started to play hockey, winter weekends were spent in various rinks in south west Manitoba. In January, 2006, Jean got her first taste of Texas and was hooked on spending winters in the warm south. Following Phils retirement, they made Ditch Lake their permanent home and they enjoyed 6 wonderful winters in Llanno Grande Lake Park Resort, Mercedes, Texas. Here, Jean made many new friends while she attended the 11 a.m. aqua size class and enjoyed social events in the Park. In November 2008, Jeff married Judy and they blessed her with two wonderful grandchildren: Juliana and Manny. As all grandmothers are, she was extremely proud of her grandchildren. Jean was very easy going and made friends wherever she lived. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Jean was predeceased by her father John Hood, and in-laws, Robert and Dorothy Forbes. She is survived by her mother Marguerite Hood of Dauphin, her husband Phil of Ditch Lake, son Jeff, daughter-in-law Judy and grandchildren Juliana and Manuel of Winnipeg, sister Marion Tordon and nieces, Jennifer (Jeremy) and Sarah (Evan) all of Calgary and her cousins Ken Hood and Doreen Robertson and their families.
