BOBIAK: Ian. June 6, 1939 Brandon, MB - September 29, 2013 Calgary, AB. It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Ian; loving Husband, Father and Grandfather in Calgary, AB on September 29, 2013 at the age of 74 years. Ian passed away peacefully with family by his side, following a courageous battle with leukemia. Ian was born in Brandon, MB on June 6, 1939, growing up in a large Ukrainian family. As a young boy he was a great Ukrainian dancer, was a member of Sea Cadets, and a drummer for the Hi-Five band in high school. Following that he chose a career in architecture and worked for two major architectural firms in Winnipeg, MB before forming his own company, Ian Bobiak Project Management; which he successfully ran for almost three decades in Brandon, MB. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon Stott on July 25, 1964. They were blessed with two daughters, Shauna in 1968 and Heidi in 1972. In 2007 Ian and Sharon moved west to Cochrane, AB to semi-retire and enjoy quality time with family and their grandchildren. Ian loved the great outdoors. He was an avid canoeist and took great pleasure in quietly paddling through the bulrushes to view a family of loons. He also enjoyed countless hours of fishing and camping, especially in Kananaskis Country and the Rocky Mountains. Over the last few years he took great pride in the restoration of his two vintage vehicles, a 1928 Chrysler and a 1924 Model T Ford Truck. He will forever be loved and remembered by his wife Sharon of 49 years, daughters Shauna Dyck (Steven) of White City, SK, and Heidi Dixon (Dean) of Cochrane, AB. Ian was a proud and loving Grampy to his 3 grandchildren Arianna Dyck, and Tasia and Parker Dixon. A Celebration of Ians Life will be held at St. Andrews United Church Cochrane (128-1st Street East Cochrane, AB) on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 325 Manning Rd.
