KREUTZER: With heavy hearts we announce the death of Reginald Raymond Kreutzer, on September 16, 2013, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Reg is survived by his loving wife Doreen, his children and their spouses; Melanie (Don), Ben (Candace), and Kenny (Tamara). His grandchildren Kate, Ryleigh, James, Jessie, Mackenzie, and Jayce will miss their grandpa very much. His parents Len and Pearl Kreutzer, his sister Darlene(Claude) and children, and sister -in-law Dawn and children are all mourning his untimely death. He was predeceased by his older brother Keith in 1979. Reg or Reggie as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born in Virden, MB. He grew up and received his education in Oak Lake, Manitoba. When he was 18, he packed his bags and moved to The Pas to pursue a career in truck driving. When he was unable to obtain this job, he worked for the Department of Highways for a year in The Pas. At the end of that year he was happily employed by The Pas Lumber, where he transported timber. It was during this time that he met and married his wife Doreen. After two years and with their first child Melanie born, they moved to Regina to pursue an opportunity in hauling and laying sod. Reg and Doreen welcomed two more children into their family, Ben and Ken. With a yearning to start his own business, Reg and his family returned to Oak Lake and began what is known today as Kreutzer Metals Ltd. The first purchase Reg made for his scrap business was seven cars from Autopac with an old forklift and a 44 Massey tractor, with a lot of determination and hard work Reg began to build his business. His son says that to load one truck took Reg three days and in comparison, today, that same load takes three hours. Reg started hauling steel from the oil pipeline in Virden, and having made many business contacts in the scrap industry, his company had grown. Realizing he needed a reliable and efficient person to run the office, Reg hired Sherry Kobialko. She became his right hand women, a confidante, and friend. Along with Sherry and Reg's staff he built the very successful business that exists today. Reg had a big heart and he was known far and wide as someone that you could call on for a favor and even a loan. He was always willing to give everybody the benefit of the doubt and would often hire people that had a difficult time finding a job, or that were new to the work force. He was a generous contributor to all fundraisers and activities is Oak Lake. Reg was an outdoors-man and enjoyed all modes of transportation, quads, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and fast cars., he particularly enjoyed deer hunting season. He was an amazing cook and was almost famous for his BBQ ribs. In recent years Reg became a picker and could often be found at his Happy Place cleaning and arranging his antiques. Although we lost him much too soon, Reg had a full life, but above all else he treasured and loved his family and they received all the love he had to give. Reg was laid to rest Monday September 23, 2013 at Oak Lake Cemetery. The service was officiated by Bryce Buckley. Reg's nephew Keith Kreutzer was the urn bearer. If desired donations can be made in Reg's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. When a loved one becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.Reg you are our greatest treasure.
