CLARK: It is with great sadness we mourn the loss of our loving husband of 69 years, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Donald Earl Clark passed away in Brandon October 9, 2013 with his family by his side. Donald was born in Livelong, Saskatchewan on February 3, 1922. He married Dorothy Macdonald and spent his early married life working as an aero engine mechanic in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon leaving the forces, he worked briefly as a carpenter but, his true desire was to be self employed. Don opened his own business and operated Clark’s Saw Shop and later added the Curling Rock component. He loved this business as it afforded him the opportunity to develop and create his own machines which he then applied for and maintained the patents. Don spent many happy hours creating and inventing in his shop. Don and Dorothy loved to travel with family. They never missed the opportunity to attend a family reunion, wedding and sadly many funerals. Memorable trips were made to Great Britain, Texas, Mexico, and California. Don and Dorothy traveled extensively in Canada from the West Coast to the Maritimes. Always being with family members was a highlight. Don had a great many interests throughout his lifetime. A major interest was his dedication to Southminster Presbyterian Church that he and his dad and brother Curtis helped to build. He acted as a Trustee, Clerk of Session, and sang in the choir for over 50 years. Singing and music played a great portion of his life. He sang with the Barbershoppers (SPEBSQSA) in the chorus as well as a quartet in the later years for 50 years. Don played the banjo and in early years loved to play at the barn dances. Don loved all nature and could often be found watching nature shows on TV. Don leaves to mourn his childhood sweetheart Dorothy and between them a family of four children. Left to cherish his memory are Erla (David) Buchanan, Doreen (Ronald) Dietrich, Janice (Gary) Lindsay and Delbert (Bev Proctor) Clark. Don had eight grandchildren, David (Deb) Buchanan, Heather (Justin) Johns, Michael (Crystal) Dietrich, Jeffrey (Lindsey) Dietrich, Dawn (Edwardo) Espinoza, Jennifer (Shawn) Heise, Kristina Lindsay. There are 12 great-grandchildren. Don loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life was held at First Presbyterian Church on October 15, 2013 with The Rev. Dr. Dong-Ha Kim officiating. Don was buried in the Veteran section of the Brandon Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Don may be made to CNIB, 354-10th Street, Brandon, R7A 4G1.
