EPP: Walter David. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Wally, loving husband of Dorothy and dear father and grandpa, on September 9, 2013. Wally was born in Winkler, Manitoba on January 14, 1950, the sixth child of Abe and Helen Epp. He grew up on the farm north-west of Culross and attended Giltedge School until mid Grade 4. At Christmas, 1959, the family moved to a farm in the Wingham School Division and he attended school to Grade 8. He attended high school in Elm Creek and graduated Grade 12 in 1968. In 1969 he joined the RCMP and completed basic training in September 1969 and was posted in Kelowna B.C. The following year he was transferred to Kamloops and then to Vernon in the summer of 1971. He married Linda Ehman in 1971. His first daughter, Carmen, was born in 1974 there. In the spring of 1975 he left the force and moved to Carman, Manitoba and took over his Dads welding shop. His second daughter, Andrea, was born in 1976. In June of 1976 he re-enlisted with the RCMP and was stationed in Pinawa, Manitoba. They lived there for almost two years and then he was transferred to Ashern, Manitoba. Three years later he was posted in Carberry, Manitoba where he decided to stay. On December 1, 1991, he purchased the Petro-Canada Service Station with his wife and partners Don and Dale Kneeshaw. He remained in the RCMP until April 1992 and then took an early retirement. Wally, Don and Dale sold the Service Station (East End) in April of 2013. Wally met Dorothy (nee Dunn) in 2002 and they were married in November of 2009. Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, travelling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always up for the next adventure. He was a kind and generous man who was admired and respected by most who knew him. Wally was predeceased by his parents in 1980 and 1982 and by his first wife, Linda, in 2009. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Dorothy, his daughters, Carmen Blair (Doran) and Andrea (Joe) Hadley and his three grandchildren, Anastasia Podworny, Trinity Blair and Vaughan Blair. He also had two step-children, Mari Kitching (Shawn) and Michael (Trish) Ingram and five step-grandchildren, Bri Staples, Kenna Staples, Harper Kitching, Rowan Kitching and Noble Ingram. Wally has seven siblings, Ernie (Trudy) Epp, Bert (Audrey) Epp, Ann (Bob) Wiebe, Irma McKay, Ruth (Ron) Blasner, Verna (Joe) Beardy, Eydie (Al) Reisacher; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service was held on September 12, 2013 at the Carberry Hall, interment at the Carberry Cemetery. Pastor Will Feldbusch and brother-in-law Bob Wiebe officiated. He will be very sadly missed and loved forever.
