RUTLEY: Rev. H. Trevor Ted Rutley. It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Trevor. He was born in Ochre River on May 5, 1926 and passed away on November 2, 2013 at the Riverdale Personal Care Home. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie in 2008, infant daughter Connie in 1945, sister Dorothy and brother Gordon. Trevor and Elsie were married in Clear Lake, Manitoba on July 28, 1944. Their first years of marriage were spent working and living in Sandy Lake. In 1950, they moved to Rivers, Manitoba with their young son, Sheryle Trevor. Ted as he was known then, worked as the chief stores and equipment person in the ME section at the Rivers Air Base. He also claimed to be the best cat skinner around, working as a caterpillar operator for a short time. From Rivers, the family made their way to Rathwell, MB. They stayed here from 1960-63. During this time Trevor attended the University of Winnipeg and received his Bachelor of Theology in 1963. In 1962, the family adopted a baby girl Kathi-Jill. Darlingford was the first stop of many from 1963-65, McCreary 1965-68, Darlingford welcomed the Rutleys back into the fold from 1968-72. A northern move to Flin Flon took place in July 1972. Trevor loved the north country for its beautiful scenery and fishing adventures. Here he reconnected with his cousins John and Ralf Rutley. Virden was home in 1979 until his retirement in 1991. Due to age and health issues, Brandon became home in 2004 for one year, Rivers in 2006, back to Brandon in 2007 and after Elsies passing in 2008, Trevor moved into Riverheights Terrace for three years. When failing eyesight and mobility became an issue, Trevor made one more move to the Riverdale Personal Care Home. After a successful career as a minister/ nomad, this was Trevors final home. During his years, Trevor belonged to many organizations. Boy scouts, all church related committees, choir, he was an Honorary Legion member (Padre), an Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge and ambulance volunteer. He enjoyed watching sports, coaching his sons baseball team during high school, curling and photography. Family photos and Clear Lake scenery were his passions. He considered himself to be a good Christian person and was ready to help anyone in need. Trevor left a lasting impression wherever the road took him. Be it a gentle touch, a lasting prayer or one of those jokes you would never expect from a minister. Trevor is survived by: son S.T. Rutley, grandsons Darren and Tyler, daughter Jill (Cam) White, granddaughter Alycia (Chris), great-granddaughter Madison, granddaughter Deanne (Andrew), great-grandson Korey, special niece, Judy (Graham) Smith and their family, daughter Ann Marie (Brian) Barnes, sons Justin (Dominic) and Jordan, son Jay Keating (Melanie) and daughter Mattea.
