BOBIAK: Marion Sharon (nee Stott) October 23, 1942 - November 22, 2013. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon in her home in Cochrane, AB - loving Mother, Grandmother and Sister. She will forever be loved and remembered by her daughters Shauna Dyck (Steven) of White City, SK, and Heidi Dixon (Dean) of Cochrane, AB and her brother Cyril Stott (Tiena) of Brandon, MB. She was recently predeceased by her beloved husband Ian of 49 years and was a proud and loving “Grammy” to her 3 grandchildren Arianna Dyck, and Tasia and Parker Dixon. Sharon was born in Brandon, MB on October 23, 1942 to Stan and Winnie Stott and grew up on the family farm along with her younger brother Cyril. Sharon was always on the go riding her bicycle everywhere. She was a member of the Forrest 4H Sewing Club and enjoyed reading, playing ball, skating and taking trips to Clear Lake. As a young girl she had a natural ear for music, playing the piano, accordian and later singing and playing for the trio “The Teenettes” in high school. Sharon attended Bloomsbury School, a one-room country school house, followed by Brandon Collegiate Institute where she graduated in 1960. After a year of teacher training, Sharon accepted her first teaching position at King George School in Brandon. On July 24, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart Ian Bobiak and they were blessed with two daughters, Shauna in 1968 and Heidi in 1972. Sharon retired from teaching in 1992 to work alongside Ian in managing his architectural business, Ian Bobiak Project Management. In 2007 Sharon and Ian moved west to Cochrane, AB to semi-retire and enjoy quality time with family and their grandchildren. Sharon had a love for knitting, playing the piano and dancing the jive with Ian. She was always full of energy and on the go. Together with their daughters they enjoyed family camping trips, canoeing and fishing. Later their travels took them to Maui, Hawaii and cruising the Caribbean including a couple of passages through the Panama Canal. Most recently Sharon and Ian enjoyed countless hours of canoeing and fishing in Kananaskis and the Rocky Mountains. She was an avid curler and enjoyed volunteering at St. Andrew’s United Church and for the Salvation Army. A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will take place at St. Andrew’s United Church (128 – 1st Street East, Cochrane, AB) on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of choice. In living memory of Sharon Bobiak, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Cochrane Funeral Home, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane.
