GRAY: James Garth Gray, known as Garth Gray passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the Brandon Regional Health Centre at age 82. Garth was born September 15, 1931 to James Earl Gray and Marion Letitia Gray (Sawyer) in Wapella, SK. He worked with his father and mother operating general stores at Poplar Point, Gunton, Dacota Siding and Moore Park. Garth lived in Moore Park for many years before moving to Brandon. In Brandon he worked at the Strand Theater and later worked on security at the Central United Church opening and closing for the many church functions. Walking was one of Garth’s favorite pastimes. He explored Brandon with his daily walks. His car was his pride and joy. He went for many long drives and explored most of Manitoba and its many eating establishments across the country. His Friday trips with John Makee to Minnedosa went on for many years. Garth loved to listen to country music, especially the older music. He would spend part of his day with this type of music on and often listened at night on the radio to western music. Garth leaves behind a sister Jean (Glen) Hays of Ashmont, Alberta and a brother Tom (Phyllis) Gray of Brandon. Nieces and nephews Georgi Moulson, Kelly Gray, Jimmy Hays, Heather Syrnyk and Darren Hays. Lots of great-nieces and nephews and now three great-great-little ones. As Garth would say “Life moves on”. In keeping with Garth’s wishes a private interment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery followed by a private family Celebration of his Life.
