BEARE: Gordon Robert Beare passed away peacefully at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born the youngest of nine children to Tom and Sarah Beare on February 16, 1917 on the family farm in the Delton District in Manitoba, Gordon went to school at Delton and worked on the family farm until 1939 when he entered the Armed Services. After returning from the war in 1946, he met the love of his life, Edna Carson, that fall. They married July 12, 1947 and enjoyed a busy life, building a new home, farming and raising their three children Linda, Bruce and Ed. Gordon continued to farm with his brothers until 1973 when they moved off the farm to Camp Wannakumbac at Onanole where Gordon worked as caretaker of the camp for nine years. In 1982, Gordon and Edna moved to Wawanesa, spending many summers in Killarney at the camp ground and winters in Texas until 2002, when they moved into Lion's Manor in Brandon. Gordon and Edna enjoyed their lives in Brandon surrounded by good friends and family. Gordon lost his best friend and wife, March 15, 2010. Life continued on with the company of many good friends to help him overcome the loneliness. On May 21, 2013, Gordon moved into the Personal Care Home in Wawanesa. Gordon absolutely loved his life there appreciating the staff for all they did for him and enjoying the residents, many he had known for years. Gordon's family wants to thank Dr. Butler and staff in Brandon, and Dr. Lee and Vicki for their care and attention during the past number of years. We want to acknowledge the outstanding care of the Home Care workers in Brandon and also the wonderful staff at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Edna and daughter-in-law Trishie, parents, three sisters and five brothers. Thanks for the memories, we are going to miss you Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle Gordon, Gordie and Partner. Remembered with love and never forgotten by: his daughter Linda (Mark) Fisher, granddaughter Carmen Fisher, grandson Perry (Tara) and great-grandchildren Parker and Kate Fisher; son Bruce (Janie) Beare, grandson Scott Beare, grandson Derek (Tami) Beare and great-granddaughters Ellie and Thea; son Ed Beare (Myrna Myers), granddaughter Kristie (Mike) Payne and great-grandchildren Mason and Dylan Payne, grandson Troy Beare and great-granddaughter Ashtyn and granddaughter Nicole Beare, many nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends. A celebration of Gordon's life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, December 21, 2013 with Pastor Neal Eckert officiating. Interment at Minnewawa Cemetery will take place at a later date.
