FITZSIMMONS: Suddenly on December 27, 2013, at his residence in Edrans, MB, Ronald William Fitzsimmons, age 74, passed away. Ron was born to Roy and Angeline Fitzsimmons in their family residence at Harte, MB on June 14, 1939. Ron lived in several communities in Manitoba through his life as his father Roy was Section Foreman for CNR for 40 years, and Ron moved around a lot with his job for Manitoba Hydro. In 1959, Ron married Gloria (Kjartanson) and began working for Manitoba Hydro. They have three children, Marty, Brad and Deb. Ron continued working for Hydro until 1979, and was co-owner of Smitty’s and Portage Taxi, Portage la Prairie, through the seventies. After leaving Hydro, Ron worked for his father- in-law Jule Kjartanson of Amaranth, MB, driving the fish truck for fresh water fish producers. In 1982 Ron started up Ron’s Septic Service from the place he loved to live, Edrans, MB. He continued this business right up until his passing, despite urgings from family members to retire. Ron loved his job and loyal customers and truly appreciated all their business. Ron loved family, country living, gardening, camping, watching curling, singing and playing guitar. Ron had a great sense of humor, made friends easily, and was well liked by anybody that knew him. Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and will be sadly missed, but never forgotten by everybody that had the pleasure of knowing him. Ron was predeceased by his wife Gloria, his parents Roy and Angeline, sister Irene (Garrioch). He is survived by his sons, Marty, Brandon, Brad, Edrans, and daughter Deb (Randy Vogt) of Edrans. Six grandchildren, Jeff, Tara, Shane, Amber, Mike, and Serena Fitzsimmons, all of Brandon, MB. One brother Ivan (Caroline) Winnipeg, sisters Shirley McLeod, Brandon, Phyllis Fitzsimmons of Portage, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service was held January 4, 2014, from Edrans Church with Pastor Will Wiebe officiating. Interment followed in Edrans Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marty, Brad, Jeff, Shane Fitzsimmons, Ken and Dana Kulba. Whites Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
