LOEWEN: It is with sadness the family of Henry D. Loewen, age 87 years, announces that his death occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born on March 15, 1926 at Siberia, Russia, Henry immigrated to Canada with his family as an infant. They settled in Foxwarren, Manitoba, later moving to the Brookdale area. Henry was a farmer in the Derry District and his last farm was in the Brookdale area. Many students fondly remember him as their bus driver; he drove for more than 20 years for the Beautiful Plains School Division. Henry was very involved in his community and was a member of the Justice Mennonite Brethren Church. He was also a Gideon Member for over 25 years and served with the Canadian Revival Fellowship Centre. In his spare time Henry loved woodworking and carpentry work. Henry will be lovingly remembered by his children: Hank (Grace) Loewen, Ed (Edna) Loewen, Elaine (Brien) Powles, Dave (Donna) Loewen, Ken (Geneane) Loewen, Irv Loewen, Betty (Fokko) Buurma, his twenty three grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three sisters as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Katherine, parents David and Anna Loewen, two brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Service took place at the Justice Mennonite Brethren Church on Friday, January 3, 2014. Pastor Gerry Harms officiated. Pallbearers were Travis Loewen, Jason Loewen, Trevor Loewen, Curtis Loewen, Matthew Loewen, and Thomas Buurma. Interment took place at Sparling Cemetery.
