LEE: It is with sadness the family of Donald F. Lee, beloved husband of Joan, dear father to Kelly (Shari) and Barry, loving grandfather to Kayla (Cliff) and Shaun, announce that his death occurred on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Born in Winnipeg September 25, 1934, Don lived in Boissevain where he took his schooling. In 1953, the Lee family moved to Brandon where Don helped to build the family business with his father and brother. It was known as Lee Implements until 1985. In 1981, he received an outstanding service award from Assiniboine Community College for his part in developing the farm machinery program. An active member of the community, Don belonged to the Brandon Lions Club, Brandon Junior Chamber of Commerce and Brandon Toast Masters. He was instrumental in the development of Westridge Community Centre and was involved in minor hockey and loved to golf. Many happy times were spent with family enjoying the cottage at Sandy Lake. Don and Joan travelled to many parts of the world and spent 21 years winter vacationing in Florida, however due to Dons failing health, they could no longer go. Don was very skilled with his hands and thoroughly enjoyed making wooden toys for the grandchildren, family and friends and neighborhood kids, as well as the Christmas Cheer Board. Don is survived by: his loving wife Joan (Sanders) of 54 years; son Kelly (Shari), granddaughter Kayla (Cliff) Taylor of Killarney, MB, grandson Shaun Lee of Drayton Valley, AB; son Barry of Onanole, MB; brother Lloyd (Maureen) and family, Joanne (Jerry) Nehring, Paul (Reneé) of Brandon. He was predeceased by his father Frank Lee in 1980, mother Amy in 1992 and sister Verna Burke in 2008. The Ceremony to Celebrate Dons Life was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, January 6, 2014. Rev. Dave Wilson officiated. Eulogy was given by grandson Shaun Lee, neighbors memoirs written by Lloyd Nerbas, read by Bernice Nerbas, video tribute was prepared by granddaughter Kayla Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers were Lloyd and Bernice Nerbas, Dan Nicolajsen, Mark Baynton, Greg Bieber and Mark Griffith. Pallbearers were: Jeffrey Griffith, Brian Griffith, Tyler Griffith, Cliff Taylor, Joanne Nehring and Paul Lee. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
