LUCAS: David Richard Lucas of Sprucewoods passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Dave was born in Wilcox, Saskatchewan on August 16, 1933, the son of John and Rosalina Lucas. Dave served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 38 years, settling in Sprucewoods on his retirement. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans of Canada. Dave is survived by his daughter Susan Banks and granddaughters Melissa and Jennifer as well as numerous relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 2004. A graveside ceremony will be held in the Veterans section of the Brandon Cemetery on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Padre Albert Lee, of C.F.B. Shilo, former chaplain to 11 Field Artillery Regiment will officiate. The graveside will be followed by a gathering at the Sprucewoods Community Hall to remember and celebrate Dave’s life from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
