HASIUK: Norman Edward Hasiuk passed away at the Neepawa Hospital on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the age of 86. Norman, son of John and Mary Hasiuk of McConnell, was born on March 10, 1927. On July 10, 1951 he marked Margaret Christine Sinclair of Strathclair. They resided in Cardale, Minnedosa and Neepawa where he worked for Pool Elevators, Wilton Motors, McDougall’s Garage, Brown and Murray, and then spent 28 years with Acklands until his retirement in 1992. Throughout his life, Dad enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, curling, cross country skiing and up until earlier this past year, walks around the fairgrounds every morning. He enjoyed travelling to places such as Germany, Indonesia, Texas and western Canada. Dad was an active member of the Neepawa Lions Club for 45 years. Since his retirement, he enjoyed his twice a day coffee with his buddies, with Bud Lee often picking him up. His weekly social schedule went: Monday—visit the Lee family, Tuesday—visit Gerry Henry, Wednesday—visit the Peech family, Thursday—visit the Sneesby family and Friday—a visit with the Mitchell family. These visits would be to get help with something, enjoy a meal or just a social call. As well, Dad, together with Bud Lee, volunteered to drive cancer patients from Neepawa to Winnipeg for many years. Another part of his schedule were the five or so years of twice daily visits to Mom in East View Lodge while she received care during her fight with MS. Norm was predeceased by his wife Margaret on June 16, 2004; brothers Peter and Jack and sister Jessie Johnston. He is survived by his sons, Edward (Suzanne) of Calgary, Blair (Sonia) of Brandon and Darrel (Marguerite) of Truro, Nova Scotia; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and his sisters Allyson Ford of Calgary and Isabelle Paul of Boca Raton, Florida. A celebration of Dad’s life took place at the Neepawa United Church on Monday, January 13, 2014 with Kristin Wood as Officiating Clergy. Interment took place at the Riverside Cenetery, Neepawa, Manitoba. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made to the Neepawa District Palliative Care Service, Box 1240, Neepawa, Manitoba R0J 1H0.
