KRELLER: Orval Albert passed away peacefully on January 18, 2014, at his residence at Fairview Personal Care Home, at the age of 94. Dad was born on November 6, 1919, at Empress, Alberta, and grew up on a ranch in the Social Plains District. He joined the army as a young man and while stationed in Winnipeg, met the love of his life, Jean Boorman. They married on August 19, 1942, in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1946, they settled on a farm in the Brandon Hills District where they raised their family of four boys. They were active in the farm community and continued farming until 1962, when they moved into Brandon. Dad was a social person and loved dancing, card games, camping and travelling. He was a country boy at heart and was happy to be able to keep his hand in the farming life by helping son, Wayne, with his farm operations. Family was everything to Dad, and he thrived on keeping up with each of his sons and their ever expanding families. He was always genuinely interested in the lives of every child, grandchild and great-grandchild and for him it was a priority to attend school, sporting and family events. Dad was always a true gentleman. He had a keen sense of humour, huge smile, loving hugs and a calm, gentle presence. On January 18, 2014, our family lost the wonderful man in the big white Stetson and we will all miss him very much.
