CHRISP: Bonnie Arline passed away on February 5, 2014 at the Reston Health Care Centre with her family by her side. Bonnie was born May 2, 1928 to parent Richard and Elsie Kenderdine on the family farm near Maryfield, Saskatchewan. She moved to Scarth, Manitoba with her parents and three older brothers in 1937. She took her schooling at Scarth to Grade 9 and her high school years at St. Michael’s Academy in Brandon. She made many lifelong friends and was active in her school by being Vice President of the Student Council. She was also President of the Resident Boarders Club. After finishing school she worked in the family store and Post Office at Scarth. She was an active member of the Scarth Homemakers as well as doing sewing and knitting for the Red Cross. Bonnie married Leslie Chrisp of Belleview in 1948. They enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and many other places. They loved to dance and socialize. They had five sons: Barry, Terry, Shane, Lee and a baby they lost. In her years at Belleview she was bookkeeper for the Belleview Garage, covenor for the Red Cross and Secretary/Treasurer of the Community Club. She also continued to sew and knit well into her later years. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren treasure her sweaters and mittens. In 1981 Bonnie and Leslie moved their house to Pipestone, Manitoba. Bonnie worked at the Reston Hospital for 12 years. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary and was Secretary of that organization for 15 years. She was President of the Pipestone Guild attending events even after she moved to Virden, Manitoba. She sold the Pipestone house in November 2008 and resided in Tara Place in Virden. She is survived by her four sons: Barry (Bev) of Portage, Terry (Gail) of Reston, Shane (Clarice) of St. Albert and Lee of Brandon. Five grandchildren: Darin (Jen) Chrisp of Neepawa, Marnie Groeneveld (Dan Bickerton) of Winnipeg, Nate (Adrienne) Chrisp of Calgary, Jay Chrisp of Ft. Saskatchewan, Carlene (James) Mathieson of Edmonton. Nine great grandchildren: Avery, Taylor, Alex, Freya, Johnnie, Finn, Cael, Ivy and Oliver. Bonnie was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 2001; an infant son in 1960, her parents Richard and Elsie Kenderdine, by her brothers Bud, Keith and Ellsworth, by her in-laws George and Eva Chrisp, Jim and Gladys Chrisp, Jim and Millie Wright, Iona Smith and cousin Jim Chrisp. A funeral service was held on February 11, 2014 at the Pipestone Community Hall with Rev. Dwight Rutherford officiating. The ushers were Boyd Henuset and Bob Forder. The urn bearer was Darwin Chrisp followed by her other grandchildren. A private family service was held at the Virden Cemetery. Donations in Bonnie’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
