COUGHLAN: It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jim” Allan Coughlan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Tri Lake Health Centre in Killarney, Manitoba on March 8, 2014 at the age of 75. Jim was born on January 18, 1939 in Virden, Manitoba to John and Helen Coughlan. Jim was the second of four children, brothers Bill & John and sister Margaret. Jim met the love of his life, Marilyn Faye Coughlan (Lewis) and they married August 17, 1963. Jim and Faye had three children, Doug, Kevin and Kim. Jim started his teaching career in a country school house near MacGregor. He then taught at Ebor School, Minto School, Elkhorn School and finished his teaching career at Killarney School. Jim then worked as a Special Education Coordinator at the Turtle Mountain School Division until he retired in 1995. Jim was a long-time volunteer for the Killarney Shamrocks, Hockey Manitoba, Minor Ball and Westman Communications Group. Jim not only loved to play hockey and ball but loved to watch his kids and grandchildren play as well. He loved watching and being with his grandchildren. Jim is predeceased by his parents, John and Helen and his brothers Bill and John. Jim is survived by his wife: Faye, children: Doug (Sandy) Coughlan of Dauphin, Kevin (Sharon) Coughlan of Winnipeg and Kim (Larry) Shackel of Killarney. Grandchildren: Trista (Jolan) Warrener & Ryan Coughlan of Brandon, Nicole and Cody Shackel of Killarney and Nolan, Arden and Rowan Coughlan of Winnipeg. Sister: Margaret Pascoe of Brandon. The funeral service was held on March 14, 2014 at the Killarney Wheatland Chapel. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to Killarney Minor Ball; Box 643 Killarney, MB R0K 1G0 or to Killarney Minor Hockey; Box 184 Killarney, MB R0K 1G0.
