As a young man Bob worked at various jobs in the logging industry, railroads and at his sister and husbands bakery before joining the Army in 1952 with the Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry and was stationed in Calgary where he met and married Doreen Wiggins. It was a typical military life with postings to various locations including Shilo, Manitoba in 1965 until 1976 when he retired and moved to Medicine Hat to work in Suffield as a civilian for DND. After full retirement Bob and Doreen moved a few times before settling in Churchbridge Saskatchewan. Bob did not travel much and was happiest when home with his cats. When Doreen passed away Bob made sure cards were sent to everyone in the family on their birthdays and anniversaries including the great grandchildren. Bob enjoyed playing guitar and singing country songs to the likes of Hank Williams and Hank Snow. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing in his retirement.
