BEARS: Eleanor Irene Bears (nee Crowther). Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. She was born March 18, 1937 in Mather, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Tom (Sam), her son Dale, her sister Sharron Janzen and her parents Clifford and Eunice Crowther. She is survived by her daughters Jessie Bears of Brandon, Heather (Kevin) Lowther of Fairmont Hot Springs; daughter-in-law Heather Eagle-Bears of Minto; son Brian (Linda) Smith-Bears of Brandon; grandchildren Justin (Kirsty), Devon, Jamieson, Jordan, Michael, Eileen; great-granddaughter Alyxis; sister Ramona (Jack Kuhl) Crowther of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Frank Janzen of Mather and sister-in-law Maureen Bears of Nova Scotia. Eleanor attended school in Mather and Winnipeg when her family had moved to St. Charles. She started working as a car-hop at A&W where she met Tom and they married in December, 1958. They raised their family in Winnipeg, Dana, SK, Bagotville, PQ, Summerside, PEI, Shilo, MB and finally Brandon as they transferred around with Tom's military career. After raising her family, Eleanor worked with Child and Family Services and was active with the Royal Canadian Legion No. 3. The Memorial Service will be at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Major Sharon McDonough will officiate. A private family interment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to a charity of choice.
