FALCONER: Louise. Loving daughter to Louis and Emily Lindenberg; sister to Arwid (Grace), Bruno (Bea) and Arthur (Eunice); wife to Jack Falconer; mother to Carol, Patrick and Valerie; grandmother to Jedidiah, Nico and Luke; great-grandmother to Emrys and Teia; special aunt to Donna, Jos and many other nieces and nephews; teacher to so many and friend to even more. Louise was born to Latvian immigrant parents in Minnedosa, Manitoba on September 6, 1929, and passed away peacefully with devoted family at her side on April 19, 2014 in Victoria, BC. Louise lived fully and enthusiastically! Her journey from prairie farm girl to college department head speaks to her love of learning and hard work. Her travels to countries and communities around the world during the second half of her life speak to her sense of adventure and capacities to reach out and connect with others. Her active membership in, and ongoing contributions to, church communities in Brandon, Winnipeg and Victoria speak to her abiding commitment to joining with others to help make a better world. The love of, and dedication to, family and friends was integral to Louise’s life. Gatherings at her house on any occasion were always extraordinary times of sharing and joy. Her annual Christmas letters in verse were much anticipated, and she served as a hub for relationships both far and near. A celebration of Louise’s life will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Gordon United Church in Victoria. Lunch will start at 12 noon with a service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Flowers and cards are gratefully declined. If you wish, please make a donation in Louise’s memory to Our Place Society (in Victoria) or a cause important to you. A heartfelt thanks is given for the care and support Louise received from numerous health care providers during her final challenge of cancer, especially Dr. Karin Campbell, Dr. Irvin Pathak, and the staff and volunteers at Victoria Hospice.
