JOHNSON: Marion Johnson (1927-2014). Marion Jean Johnson of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Samuel Johnson, passed away on May 20, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Marion was born in Fairfax, Manitoba on September 23, 1927. She was raised and educated in Fairfax as well. She met the late Lorne Johnston and they were married on January 28, 1948. Lorne was an elevator agent for Patterson Grain and they lived in several Manitoba communities (Marquette, Dakotah, Ipswich). They moved to Souris in 1963. Lorne passed away in March of 1967 leaving Marion to raise three children on her own. While in Souris, Marion worked at Stedman’s and Gulf Oil. She was fortunate to meet Sam Johnson and they were married on July 4, 1969. Upon Sam’s retirement, they moved to Lethbridge to be near their grandchildren. Marion spent a lot of her time baking for anyone and everyone. She was most happy “Grand Mothering” her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marion is survived by her children; Brenda (Murray) Clear, Mary Anne (Murray) Brown, Bob (Linda) Johnston; her brothers Ben Rice, Jack (Gertie) Rice; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Troy Clear, Tanya (Clear) and Deryk Lawrence, Derek (Amanda) Brown, Christina Brown, Angela (Johnston) and Wes Heaton; and her great grandchildren; Nakia and Taylor Lawrence, Kailey and Blake Clear, Dilyn and Deacon Brown, and Aurora Heaton. Cremation has taken place in Lethbridge and a private burial will take place at a later date in Souris. Memorial donations may be made in Marion’s name to St. Michael’s Health Centre Foundation, 1400-9 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4V5.
