KROMPOCKER: Barbara Krompocker nee Robinson (Soko), age 66 passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital’s palliative care unit. Barb was born in Winnipeg, MB on Jan. 7, 1948 and grew up and attended school in CFB Shilo, MB. She married in 1969, and together with her husband they resided in Winnipeg where Barb worked as a hairdresser until the birth of their daughter Christine in 1974. In 1976 following the passing of Barb’s first husband, she and Christine returned to the Shilo/Brandon area where she worked for the cleaning services in Shilo for many years until taking an early retirement. Barb cherished the friendships she developed on the base over the years many of which have remained special to her. Barb was always busy. She was actively involved with the Job’s Daughters, The Queen Mary Chapter of the OES; kids were always coming and going from her house... It was amazing she could find time for her favorite pass time Nintendo!! Retirement was not a time for relaxing; it was a time for new adventures. After a couple of fun jobs Barb decided to go back to school, get her GED, buy a sports car and move to Edmonton, AB for yet another new adventure. Although Barb briefly remarried in 1985, it wasn’t until this move to Edmonton that she would meet and later marry her true soul mate, best friend and one true love David. Barb and David settled down in Nanaimo, BC and married in May of 2006 a simple blue jean wedding with those closest to them and the fun didn’t stop there. Before Barb’s health declined they enjoyed hopping on the motorcycle, camping, taking cruises or simply traveling to visit family and friends. As Barb declined further David was there never leaving her side right through to the end. They may have not had a long time, but they loved for a life time! Barb was predeceased by her first husband Richard Soko, parents Barbara & Robert Warrell, niece Amanda Warrell, sister in law Mary Warrell. She is survived by her husband David Krompocker & stepchildren Michael, Gordon & Lindsey. Her daughter Christine (Terry) Smith & grandchildren Malik, Emma & Tarron. Siblings Bob, Debi (Greg), Bill (Suzanne) & many nieces & nephews whom she adored. In keeping with Barb’s wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Friends who wish to make a donation in Barb’s memory may do so to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital “Palliative Care Unit” 102-1801 Bowen Road Nanaimo BC V9S 1H1. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure... “We love you.”
