SHELESTYNSKI: Theresa Thank you mom.You taught us to use our eyes and our minds to look at the world; that not everything is as it seems. You gave us our love of nature and the outdoors. You showed us, through example, what it meant to work hard and care about whatever it was we were tackling at the time. From your days in training at Ninette Sanatorium to Gladstone Hospital's Emergency ward and Third Crossing Manor to many of Victoria's personal care homes, you always put your heart and soul into every job you did. You were known for being a wonderful, caring nurse and for that also, we thank you. You spoke your mind and stood strong no matter what life threw at you, and it did throw you some unkindly curves. But you always managed to put a smile on your face and march on. You taught us to put family first, to not sweat the small stuff and to take off quickly after stopping at a traffic light because "it's not going to get any greener!". Your sense of humour was with you to the end and for that too, we thank you. Theresa Barbara Shelestynski (82) of Gladstone, Manitoba, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her husband, Nick Shelestynski, her son, Wayne Shelestynski, sisters Jean McDonald, May Askew, Rene Treffry, sisters- in-law Joan Oswin, Amie Shelestynski and Olga Leskowski. Also predeceasing her were brothers-in-law Howard McDonald, Walter Askew, Matt Shelestynski, Sylvester Shelestynski, Walter Shelestynski and Mike Lyne. She leaves behind daughter Penny (Reg) Rogers of Gladstone and son Dean (Patti) Shelestynski of Victoria, BC, and their two children, Nicholas and Annie. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She also leaves behind sister Dorothy (Dave) Bullee and brother Jim Oswin, brothers-in-law Joe (Louise) Shelestynski and Bob Treffry and sisters-in-law Liz Lyne and Helen Shelestynski, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins both in Canada and England. According to her wishes there will be a scattering of ashes at a later date in Alaska. She always knew how to put a twist on things! We will miss you mom.
