McKINNON: George E. McKinnon (Feb 22, 1941 - July 3, 2014). Passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on July 3, 2014, surrounded by family and friends at the age of 73 years. George is survived by his two children Randy (Kim) McKinnon and Cathy (James) Harman and their mother Vivian McKinnon. Proud grandfather of Alexander, Sarah, Andrew, Steven, Michaela, Jack and Morgan. Dear friend and companion of Pat Heuchert. Predeceased by his father Lt. George E. McKinnon, mother Helen Hanlin, step father Harvey Hanlin, brother Gary McKinnon and his grandson Adam. George will be fondly remembered as a loving father and grandfather, devoted teacher to countless Manitoba science, math and computer science students and undefeated Trivial Pursuit champion. His many accomplishments as a teacher included starting the computer lab for the Rolling River School Division. George was a tireless volunteer, working as a coach for school sports and Reach for the Top, he also volunteered at the local Soup Kitchen. He was president of the Rolling River School Teacher's Society and served on numerous other boards. George enjoyed traveling to far off lands with his companion Pat and he would return with tales of their adventures. In keeping with Georges wishes, no service will be held.
