WOOD: Lawrence Alberic Wood, beloved husband of Margaret of Glenboro, Manitoba passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Glenboro Health Centre at the age of 87years. Lawrence was born in Cypress River, MB on January 19, 1927. He went to Cypress Valley School until grade ten. Lawrence met Margaret in Cypress River and they wed on April 15, 1952. They moved to a farm nine miles west of Glenboro, MB, then to their present farm in 1956. Lawrence continued to farm all through his adult years until he retired at age 65, but continued to supervise until he moved to town in 2012. Lawrence enjoyed watching many sports and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left to mourn Lawrences passing are his wife Margaret (nee Verstraete) of Glenboro, MB, his sons Garry Wood (Donna Bourdeaudhui) of Brandon, MB, Dennis (Irma) Wood of Glenboro, MB, and Mark (Sandra) Wood of Gimli, MB, grandchildren Kevin (Leanne), Trevor (Angela), Jason, Danielle (Braydon) and Michael, great granddaughters Bridget and Sophia, Brother Leo (Mona) Wood, and sisters-in-law Jessie and Imelda Wood and Ester Verstraete, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents John & Irene (nee Schamp) Wood, sister Isabel (Rene) Van Damme, brothers Albert (Margaret), Willijohn, Alvin, and Gerry Wood and brother Aime in infancy, as well as numerous extended relatives. Funeral service will be held at Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, MB at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Father Phillip Malayil celebrant. Prayers will take place at 10:15 am prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Glenboro Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lawrences memory to the Glenboro Area Foundation Inc., Box 147, Glenboro, Manitoba, ROK OXO, or to a charity of ones choice.
