FERGUSON: The death of Gordon Ferguson, beloved husband and best friend of Sheila, father of Brent, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Gordon was born October 17, 1927 and lived all of his life on the family farm, that his father homesteaded after coming from Scotland, he called the farm "Doonhill". Like his father before him he enjoyed visiting with people. Gordon's Mother passed away when he was only twelve, so he and his dad spent a lot of years together. Growing up, Nephew Jim Ferguson spent a lot of time at the farm with them. Gord spent many years showing his Angus Cattle at the Provincial Exhibition, Toronto Royal and Country fairs. After he quit showing cattle himself, he spent summers judging 4H Achievement Days, then to the 4H Rally at Portage Fair. He spent three days there, where all of the 4H Clubs competed. Gordon and Sheila spent many of their Anniversaries at the Portage Fair. Gordon was a director of the Provincial Exhibition for over twenty years and a volunteer for many more. He was on the Angus Association Board of Directors for both Manitoba and Canada. He enjoyed pheasant and goose hunting, also golf with the Sunnyside Group. Gordon and Sheila enjoyed trips to Scotland and Switzerland. In later years spent winters in Thousand Palms, California. Many family, good times were spent watching son Brent play hockey then grandson Ty. Gord took great pride in his boys! Gordon was predeceased by his Father and Mother, Robert and Anne Ferguson, his brothers Bill (May), Bob (Isobell), Hugh ( Evelyn) and Douglas, Father and Mother-in-law Murray and Reta Ham and niece, Jeanne Laschyn (nee Ferguson). He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Sheila (nee Ham), son Brent, Grandson Tyler, extended family granddaughter Stacy (Marc) Sicotte and family, nephew Jim Ferguson, niece Anne (John) Murphy and family, sister-in-law Rita Ferguson, niece Carol (Phil) Hall and family, nephew Ron (Bev) Ferguson and family, long time friends and part of our family, Frank (Eileen) Sim and Jim (Bev) McArthur. Grandson Tyler was urn bearer. Granddaughter Stacy was candle bearer. The Ceremony to Celebrate Gordon's Life was held at Central United Church on Friday, July 4, 2014. A private interment was held at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to Central United Church, 327 - 8th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 3X5 or to a charity of choice.
