JURY: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leona Irene Jury (nee Hutton) on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in Victoria, BC at the age of 82 years. Leona was born on the family farm in the Bethany District, MB on October 10, 1931 to Wilbert and Meriam Hutton. She married Cecil Jury on June 22, 1949. Cecil and Leona raised two sons, Don and Chris, while farming in Minnedosa. As the boys grew and became involved in community organizations so did Leona. She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano. Retiring from farming, Cecil and Leona moved to Victoria. Over the years they travelled a great deal. As well as sightseeing, many trips were to visit their friends and family with grandchildren and great- grandchildren being an extra special reason for visiting. Leona was predeceased by her parents, brothers Gilbert “Bunty” (Agnes), Charles “Happy” (Edith), Ray (Hilda), Ross (Muriel), Leslie (Peggy); sisters Theresa (Lionel), Gertrude (Donald), Margaret (Allan), Florence “Betty” (Howard) and sister-in-law Lorraine “Bun” Hutton. Leona is survived by her husband of 65 years Cecil; sons Don (Marlene) and Chris; grandchildren Stephanie, Michael, Angela and Amber; great-grandchildren Nathan and Ryan. She is also survived by brothers Arthur Hutton and Clifford Cunningham (Joan); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tommy and Evelyn Delgaty as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Leona’s wishes, a Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boyd Cemetery, Bethany, MB with Father Chad McCharles officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the Bethany Hall. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 354 Tenth Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G1 or a charity of choice.
