GURR: Nancy Gurr (Gardiner) nee Pittendreigh. Nancy passed away peacefully in Virden on August 23, 2014. Nancy was born on the family farm near Rapid City on May 18, 1926 to Christina and Andrew Pittendreigh. She will be fondly remembered by her children Skip Gardiner (Debbie), Donna Siemens (Fred), Lynda McDonald, Grant Gardiner (Val), Garry Gardiner (Marya), step-sons Ron Gurr (Bev) and Ken Gurr (Liz) and her 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Alvin Gurr and grandchild Lloyd Gurr, 4 sisters, Maggie J. “Daisy” Bergen, Helen “Isabel” Rinn, Norah Leoppky and Kathleen J. Johnston. She is survived by her brother Donald Pittendreigh. Nancy spent over 20 years teaching in Fort La Bosse school division. She was instrumental in founding the Association for Community Living in Virden. Nancy was an avid gardener, seamstress, curler and golfer. She loved to camp, fish and travel. In her later years she enjoyed playing bridge, making quilts for her family and painting. She was an active member of the Virden Art Club, the Retired Teachers Association and St. Paul’s United Church UCW. One of her greatest pleasures in life was actively following and relishing in the many achievements of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Internment took place at Arrow River cemetery and funeral services were at St. Paul’s United Church on August 27, 2014. Flowers are gratefully declined.
