WHITELAW: Ernest George. We are very sad to lose our brother, brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle as well as our friend. Ernest "Ernie" as we called him, was born on February 14, 1950, the second son of Bill and Florence Whitelaw. After a courageous battle with cancer he passed away September 4, 2014. Ernie lived a full life. When he was in his teens, he made many friends. He worked at Elk Ranch in the stables that Pa and Ma Stiles owned. He met many people there. His love of horses took him on his adventure. Later he moved to Winnipeg, worked in a factory for a number of years, making many lasting friendships. One of his best friends was Jerry whom he stayed in contact with over the years. Jerry was with him one hour before his passing. Ernie loved life. He loved to be up early every morning, going for coffee with friends when he was in Erickson and also in Elkhorn, where he worked as a farm laborer. Ernie made many trips to Erickson to visit the many friends living there. His later visits included overnight stays at his brother Brent. His frequent pain later prevented him from visits. Ernie lived in Elkhorn until his illness forced a move to Brandon, where family could look after him. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Florence Whitelaw. Ernie is survived by: brother, Wayne, sister Sandy (Brian) Macialek, brother Brent (Tracy), sister Carol and their families. He also leaves many nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Rest in Peace our dear brother, we will always love you. A family service was held at the Hilltop Baptist Church, Erickson, Manitoba and interment was in the family plot at the church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 204-727-0330.
