HELGASON: Our beloved Gudmunder "Helgi" Helgason, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 with his family at his side. He is survived by loving wife Irene, children Wayne (Margaret), Faye (Doug), Jo-Ann (Rae) and Sherri (Chris) and adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wish to extend their appreciation to the staff at Brandon Regional Health Centre. No formal ceremony will be held. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Helgi may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 3 - 824 - 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. Helgi wished to leave us with his personal message to his family and friends. "I will leave this world successful. I have a loving wife of decades, four wonderful children, many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am happy. I have helped others through their trials. I will leave this world loved. I'll leave this world remembered in the thoughts of friends and family. Who could ask for more? When you remember me, it means you have carried something of who I am with you. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us.
