HUBERDEAU: We sadly announce the passing of Roberta Simard Huberdeau on September 15, 2014 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, MB. Roberta Rosalie Marie was born on March 3, 1941 the third child to Eugene and Rose Anna Simard of St. Lazare, MB. She and her 13 siblings were raised in a deep catholic faith. Roberta married Arthur Huberdeau and they raised three daughters, Rachel (Curtis Haliuk RIP), Edith (Daren McDonald), Suzanne (Scott Garbutt) and their adopted son Constant (Lorinda) Huberdeau, on a dairy and grain farm at the R.M. of Ellice. Unfortunately Arthur passed away at the age of 42 on May 19, 1981, from Hemochromatosis. Therefore Roberta educated herself at the Newman College in Pastoral Ministry studies and was employed as a Religious Educator for St. Anne’s Parish in Flin Flon. The Diocese of The Pas employed Roberta to establish a Prayer House in Northern Manitoba. She then moved to Brandon and was employed as a Religious facilitator for the Arch Diocese of Winnipeg at St. Augustine’s RC Church. She also loved to travel to Rome, Hawaii, Florida, North Dakota, Manitoba and Quebec. Roberta made a decision to return home to St. Lazare. She spent five fulfilling years as a caregiver and companion to Grand Memere Rose Anna Simard. During this time Roberta was also very passionate in assisting the ladies of St. Lazare in raising funds for her Sister Hilda’s Peruvian Orphanage. She was a skilled gardener and never left aside a broken angel from her garden for they were gently placed near her Mother Mary Statue for safe keeping. This last journey she embarked was guided by her strong faith, for on August 15, 2014 on the feast of the Ascension, unfortunately she was diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. She was given the courage to embrace the challenge along side her children. She amazed her children with her humbleness, gracefulness and peace. We her children were overwhelmed by the steady flow of young people, her siblings and families nieces, nephews and friends who came to visit her. Although on September 15, 2014 on the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, Roberta passed away to Eternal Life. She was guarded by the heavenly angels and our Blessed Mother to the Eternal Gates of Heaven. Roberta was a beautiful caring and forgiving mother, grandmother, and a woman of faith. Her beloved children, 14 grandchildren, 13 siblings and spouses, family and her friends will forever miss her. Prayers were September 17, 2014. Funeral Mass was September 18, 2014 at St. Lazare Roman Catholic Church. Singers were Lynne Tremblay, Louis Simard, guitarists were Bernard Simard and Paul Deschaumbault, organist was Jacqueline Lemoine and associate Sarah Derosiers. Readers Amanda Dyck and Eugene Simard.
