BROWN: With family by his side, Elwood Harvey Brown passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Elwood was born on April 26, 1941 at Erickson, Manitoba, the middle child of three boys. He took his schooling at Crawford Park and Onanole. Elwood remained on the farm until he married Ruth Burnett on June 22, 1963. They left for Ontario after the wedding and settled at Stratford, Ontario. A son Douglas was born in 1964 and daughter Lorie in 1965. They moved to Cambridge, Ontario in 1968 and son Dwayne was born. Elwood was very active in his children's sports: coaching t-ball, baseball and hockey. In 1975, they moved back to Onanole to be closer to family. Elwood worked at Agri-Steel and Parks Canada. Again he was very involved in the kid's sports. Elwood loved hunting and fishing with his buddies and in the winter, curling, which took over many weekends. In 2005, Elwood and Ruth moved to Monterey Estates in Brandon. Morning coffee with the guys started his days, while most weekends were spent at Sandy Lake, golfing and visiting around the bonfires. Elwood and son Dwayne were faithful Brandon Wheat Kings fans. He is survived by his wife Ruth of 51 years, son Dwayne, daughter Lorie and precious grandchildren Eric and Ryan. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Marian, Verna, Connie, brother and sister- in-law Len and Shirley and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elwood was predeceased by his son Douglas in 2011, parents Jim and Dorothy, brothers Gerald and Richard, in-laws Earl and Margaret Burnett, brother-in-law Glen Mayor, brother and sister-in-law Melvin and Audrey Hofdahl.
