BELL: Laura Mary Bell (nee Wintersgill) of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away on Saturday, October 18th, 2014 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 85 years. Laura was born on May 9th, 1929, in Dryden, Ontario to Joseph Wintersgill and Louise (nee Spalding). She was the second to youngest of six sisters. Laura met her first husband Chester Bullion in 1948 in Dryden, ON. They married by the end of 1949, moved to Brandon, MB and had three children together; Barbara, Lorne and Wayne. Laura later remarried to Elmer Bell on June 5, 1976 in Brandon, MB. They were happily married until his passing in 1997. Laura's favorite color was blue and her favorite flowers were orchids and pansies. She loved her flower gardens and spent many hours tending to and adding colors and variety. Laura loved her family, always hosting family brunches, suppers and holidays. She enjoyed camping, travelling and long walks with her husband Elmer. She loved animals and often was out on long walks with her dog. Laura was very artistic, having taken a Commercial Arts program at ACC, she did artwork that she donated to the Brandon Hospital and church banners. Laura loved sewing, dancing, curling, baking, doing puzzles, garage saling/bargain hunting and anything that involved being with family. She was always present during her grandchildren's sports, activities and school functions. She wouldn't just show up to be a spectator, but as a support, encourager and their biggest fan. She was always smiling and she had a brilliantly beautiful smile. Laura had enjoyed working for the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission for many many years, in which she retired from in the mid 1990's. Laura is survived by daughter Barbara Fisher (nee Bullion) and sons Lorne and Wayne (Brenda) Bullion; grandson Jason (Sheri) Fisher and their children Ava and Trai, granddaughter Ashley Fisher and her children Jaden, Derek and Kylar, grandson Brett Fisher, grandson Lorne Jr. (Chris) Bullion and their son William, granddaughter Katherine Bullion and grandson Jordan Bullion. She is also survived by her oldest sister Beth Angers and youngest sister Barbara (Brian) Egan. Laura was predeceased by her father Joseph Wintersgill, mother Louise (nee Spalding), spouse Elmer Bell, daughters Mary and Heather Dawn Bullion, and sisters Margaret "Peggy" McMillan, Alice Kushner and Evelyn Toffan. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 23, 2014 with Rev. Fr. Patrick Neufeld as Celebrant. A private family interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Laura may be made to the YWCA - Westman Women's Shelter, 148 - 11th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4J4.
