MITCHELL: It is with great sadness the family of Betty Mitchell announces her passing on December 7, 2014 at the Boissevain Health Centre. Betty Jean was born to Frank and Jessie Kempthorne on December 21, 1937. On December 8, 1956 she married Dale Mitchell. Together they had 3 children. She was a devoted wife and mom. Throughout her life she worked at various jobs. Her passion was her family and her garden and flowers. She was very involved in Communities in Bloom and was thrilled to attend the awards ceremony on the east coast several years ago. She spent countless hours every spring and summer in her greenhouse and garden. Many apple pies and jars of pickles were enjoyed over the years. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful tablecloths and centerpieces. Mourning her loss are her three children; Larry (Erin), Wendy, Kerry (Lisa) and 5 grandchildren: Ryan, Mallory, Chris, Liam and Kaitlyn , one brother Don (Marj) Kempthorne and sister-in-law Nina Lowes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Jessie Kempthorne, her husband Dale Mitchell, and her sister Doreen Clyne. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 2:00 in the St. Pauls United Church in Boissevain, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boissevain and Morton Foundation (Town Beautification) or the Boissevain and Morton Library.
