MILLIKEN: John Glen Milliken, beloved husband of Margaret, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Glen was born on August 2, 1920 at Sinclair, Manitoba. His early school years were in Sinclair, Reston, and Virden. He took his grade nine at Earl Oxford School in Brandon and completed high school at Brandon Collegiate. On March 1, 1941 he started with the Manitoba Power Commission (later known as Manitoba Hydro) prior to enlisting in the Royal Canadian Artillery 70th Battery. Upon returning from the war he resumed work with Manitoba Hydro. In July, 1966 he became an instructor in appliance repair and motor rewind at ACC and retired from there in 1984. Glen was a member of the Boy Scouts and Royal Canadian Legion. He had lead roles in many Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas performed by the Schubert Choir, and eventually directed some of the performances. Glen served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church from 1952 until the time of his death and was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Chancel Choir for over seventy years. Baseball was a passion and he also enjoyed golf and curling, being a member of the Brandon Curling Club. But most of all, Glen's main interest and love was always his family. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Margaret; son Peter (Pat) of Georgetown, Ontario; daughter Laurie (Brian) Canart of Brandon; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jean Graham of Brandon and brother Bruce Milliken of Taber, Alberta. Glen was predeceased by his parents George and Mary Milliken and brother Peter Milliken. The Celebration of Glen's Life will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 339 12th Street on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Dong-Ha Kim officiating. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Glen may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Foundation, 339 12th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4M3 or to a charity of choice.
