He was the eldest of six children of Alfred and Mary Jane Neelin (MacKenzie). He leaves to mourn his sisters; Janet Carter (Jim), Jean Neelin, Mary Kirkpatrick (Calvin), Margaret Klein (John-deceased) and Kenzie Gray (Cameron-deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1977, his mother in 1987 and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He completed grade 8 at Neelin. At this time Dad bought the Walker Brown farm east of Killarney and William completed his grade 12 at Killarney Collegiate. Following this he graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1958 with a degree in electrical engineering. He began his first and only job with Manitoba Hydro, of 44 years, in Winnipeg where he made many lifelong friends. Upon retirement William returned to Killarney and took over the family farm, which has been rented to Don Chatham for the past 25 years. After William moved to Winnipeg, us girls were so excited when he came home. He always had bags of groceries and introduced us to so many different world wide foods. This legacy continued throughout his life with all his nieces and nephews. A highlight for Mom and Dad was the special occasion when William treated them to a Caribbean cruise. One of his special gifts was visiting relatives and friends at home or in the hospital. Many trips were made to Winnipeg and Brandon driving relatives to their medical appointments. His care for Jean exceeded all expectations. A special thanks to Bayside PCH, Tri Lake Health Centre and Health Science Centre emergency staff for their immediate and excellent care. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday April 1, 2015 at Wheatland Chapel Killarney, Manitoba at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Neelin Cemetery.
