BIRCH: Elizabeth “Betty” Rosetta Birch 1936-2015. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister and aunt on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 with family by her side. Betty was born on October 17, 1936 in Kelwood, Manitoba. In 1961, Betty and her family moved to Brandon. Betty had a respite worker who took her to all the Wheat King games and to bingo. She also watched sports such as curling, hockey and baseball on t.v. Betty was an avid shopper and met many friends during coffee in the food court in Shoppers Mall. Wednesday was card day at Seniors for Seniors and coffee after. She was creative at knitting mitts, slippers and dish cloths. Betty was predeceased by her parents Sid and Etta Birch; her dad in 1980 and her mom in 1997; A special friend Gwen in 1990; sister Phyllis in 2004; a special brother-in-law George Bishop in 2011. Betty is survived by her three sisters Madeline Bishop, Margaret (Gordon) Pearce and Judy (Jim) Menzies. There are numerous nieces and nephews left behind whom she loved dearly. In accordance with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to Westman Dreams for Kids.
